As a sports fan I love the chance to witness history... which is why I am rooting for Miguel Cabrera to win baseball's triple crown... he would be the first player to do so since 1967.
Cabrera went 4 for 5 Monday night, giving him 203 hits, and he hit his 44th home run of the season... The only other Tigers player to have a 200-hit, 40-homer season was Hank Greenberg, who had exactly 200 hits and 40 homers in 1937. But Cabrera is still 46 RBI shy of Greenberg's total for that season (183).
Tigers will be the #3 seed and open the playoffs Saturday... against the division winner with the second-best win total... but with just two days left this season, that could be the Yankees, Orioles, Rangers or A's.
